Common Rust

This fungal disease affects a wide range of plants from flowering plants such as roses to foliage plants and crops as well. Rust mostly occurs in mild, moist conditions and is spread by wind and water.

Plants affected by this disease usually exhibit slightly raised white or yellow spots on their leaves which later become covered with reddish brown spores. The diseased leaves become distorted and eventually fall.

There is no easy treatment of this disease. The best way to combat and contain it is to remove the infected parts of the plant and destroy them. Clean around the plants and cover the soil with a thick layer of mulch.
