By Sh. Mahesh Mishra

When your Lilium has finished flowering, remove the stem and all foliage.

Do not disturb or water the bulb for at least 20 days. After this time period remove the bulb from the soil and allow it to dry in the air until a skin forms. Sprinkle the bulb with a fungicidal powder such as cinnamon powder and store in a jute bag in a cool and dry place until you are ready to plant it again.

Who loves bougainvillea?

This is best time to propagate your favourite variety of bougainvillea. It’s as easy as 1…2…3.

  1. Take a 15 inch cutting of a hardwood stem that is 15 mm thick. This should have nodes on it.
  2. Cut both the top and bottom of the stem at an angle.
  3. Insert the bottom of the stem into your soil mix such that it is 6 inches deep in the soil. This will leave 9 inches protruding from the top of the soil.

With patience you will be rewarded with an addition to your bougainvillea family.
