Ms.Tara Rangam

Our inspiration of the month, Ms. Tara Rangam, is a well-known and respected name in Delhi’s gardening circles.  She is an active and enthusiastic member of many organisations and for the past 12 years has been the President of the New Delhi Ladies Club. Her love of gardening is reflected in that she is not only a member of the Chrysanthemum Society of India, the Delhi Dahlia Society, but also a senior member of the All-India Kitchen Garden Association, for which she  is the convenor of its local Unit-1 in Delhi.

Her interest and passion for herbs led her to pursue a course in medicinal plants in which she holds a Master’s degree. This knowledge is reflected in her beautiful collection of herbs that is the envy of all, and which she has displayed at many flower shows. She is always ready to share her knowledge and expertise through formal lectures on herbs, chrysanthemums, dahlias as well as general gardening topics, organised by the  Kitchen Garden Association.

As an amateur gardener, Ms. Rangam  has participated in and won  prizes at many Annual Delhi Tourism Flower Shows;  no mean feat, since she was competing against professional horticulturists from different organisations across Delhi and NCR. She has also won prizes at the YWCA of India in Delhi and the NOIDA Flower Show.

With no more room for trophies in her house, she graduated to judging competitions, which she has now been doing for almost ten years in a row. In fact, Indraprastha Horticulture Society has always been fortunate enough to have her as a judge at its annual flower shows.

Ms. Tara Rangam has been a great source of encouragement and guidance to Indraprastha Horticulture Society in its growth and pursuit of new initiatives and an inspiration in its conception of many new projects.
